How to choose your quilt size

Every Lunara set is one quilt and two matching pillow shams. Here is how to pick the size that suits your bed.

1. Measure the top of your mattress

Measure the width and the length of the mattress top. Standard US mattresses are roughly: twin 38″ × 75″, twin XL 38″ × 80″, full 54″ × 75″, queen 60″ × 80″, king 76″ × 80″, California king 72″ × 84″.

2. Decide how much overhang you want

A quilt is meant to lie on top of the bed and fall part-way down the sides. Subtract the mattress width from the quilt width and halve it: that is the drop on each side.

3. Compare with our sizes

Size Quilt Shams (2) Fits
Single 59″ × 70″ 20″ × 30″ Throw, toddler bed
Twin 69″ × 90″ 20″ × 26″ Twin, twin XL
Queen 90″ × 90″ 20″ × 26″ Full, queen
King 104″ × 94″ 20″ × 36″ King, California king

The Single (59″ × 70″) is a throw or toddler-bed size: it is shorter than a standard twin mattress, so choose Twin for a twin bed.

Example: a queen mattress is 60″ wide, so our 90″ queen quilt leaves about 15″ of drop on each side.

4. Check your pillows

Twin and Queen shams (20″ × 26″) fit standard pillows. King shams (20″ × 36″) fit king pillows. Pillow inserts are not included.

A note on measurements

Quilts are measured flat to the nearest inch and can vary by up to 2 inches after quilting. If you are between sizes, go up a size for more drop.
