Sheet, then a duvet or blanket, then the quilt on top. The quilt protects the duvet and gives the bed its look, and you can fold it back when the heating is on.

Cabin scenes, snowy forests, plaid patchwork and deep reds or greens read as warm in a winter room. Lighter blues and whites feel fresher if your bedroom runs hot.
Keep it through the season
Snowflake and forest designs work from December to February, so one set covers the whole winter rather than only the holidays.
